Robert “Bob” Butler
I’m running for Rio Vista City Council to bring practical leadership, respectful communication, and a strong commitment to the people who call Rio Vista home.
As a United States Marine Corps veteran and dedicated community volunteer, I have spent my life serving others and working to strengthen the communities I call home. I am committed to bringing integrity, accountability, and practical leadership to the Rio Vista City Council.
I have been actively involved in community projects, including helping organize Rio Vista Municipal Airport Day, which promotes aviation, tourism, local businesses, and community pride. I also advocate for veterans and their families. With one of the highest percentages of veterans in California, Rio Vista should continue to recognize and support those who have served our nation.
If elected, I will work to ensure transparent government, responsible budgeting, public safety, and thoughtful planning that protects Rio Vista’s unique character while preparing for future opportunities. I believe City Council members should be accessible, listen respectfully to residents, and make decisions based on facts and the long-term interests of our community.
Rio Vista is a special place to live, work, and raise a family. I would be honored to earn your trust and your vote, and I will work every day to represent all residents with honesty, respect, and dedication.

Campaign Statement
I am fully self-funding my campaign and will not accept donations. That keeps me independent of donors, special interests, and political organizations. My only obligation is to the residents of Rio Vista. I will listen to our community, make decisions independently, and always put what is best for our city first.
I have served as the Post Service Officer for American Legion Post 178, where I was honored to assist veterans and their families in obtaining the benefits they earned and deserved. Much of this work was accomplished through outreach, education, and connecting veterans with programs and resources available to them.
With approximately 14.3% of Rio Vista’s population made up of veterans, our community must continue to be a strong advocate for those who served.
As a member of the Rio Vista City Council, I look forward to continuing that advocacy—helping ensure our veterans and their families are informed, supported, and represented.
Rio Vista’s seniors deserve a strong voice at City Hall. I will work to protect their quality of life and ensure that the needs of our senior residents are considered when the City makes decisions about public safety, transportation, emergency preparedness, accessibility, and city services.
I also understand that many seniors live on fixed incomes. As a City Council member, I will carefully consider how spending, fees, and other City decisions affect those residents.
Our seniors helped build our communities. They deserve to be heard, respected, and represented.
I am now retired—which means I have more time to do what I enjoy most: giving back to my community.
I retired after 23 years with a large healthcare provider, where I served as Director of Plant Operations and as a Senior Construction Project Manager. Those responsibilities gave me extensive experience in budgeting, long-term planning, construction, facilities management, and evaluating the true costs of major projects.
Before coming to California in 2002, I worked for a major razor manufacturer in Boston, retiring from that position as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
These experiences taught me to look beyond the immediate cost of a project and consider its long-term financial impact. That perspective is especially important in local government, where today’s decisions can affect taxpayers for many years.
As a member of the Rio Vista City Council, I will approach decisions the same way I did throughout my professional career: study the facts, understand the costs, plan for the future, and make decisions based on what best serves the residents of Rio Vista.
If you are willing to display a campaign sign on your property, please send me a note. I truly appreciate your support.
Please help spread the word about my campaign. When speaking on my behalf, I ask that you always be honest, respectful, and truthful. I want this campaign to remain positive and focused on the issues that matter to the residents of Rio Vista.
As the campaign moves forward, I’ll post additional information and ways you can help right here.
Thank you for your support.
